Over 3.1 million tacos and 45 tons of Nacho Cheese sauce sold in Taco Bell’s 5 years of operation

Mexican-inspired restaurant chain Taco Bell has sold an average of 1 taco per minute in its 5 years of operation in the local market. During this period, more than 10 million customers crossed the threshold of the restaurants and especially appreciated the Nacho Cheese sauce, of which approx. 45 tons. Taco Bell has expanded steadily over the past 5 years, continuing to open new restaurants even during the pandemic. Thus, in 2020 and 2021, 3 locations were inaugurated: Taco Bell AFI Palace Brașov, Taco Bell Palas Mall Iași and Taco Bell Arena Mall Bacău.

“5 years ago, we launched Taco Bell on the Romanian market, inspired by the nonconformist values that define this brand. The results did not take long to appear, and our products quickly entered the preferences of domestic consumers. This allowed us to expand year after year, including during the pandemic, and have good financial results shortly after opening. Thus, we have registered operating profit since the third year of activity, despite the challenges that the HoReCa industry has faced in the last two years: closed restaurants, lack of predictability, labor shortage. We will continue to expand, but also to innovate at the product level, to come as close as possible to our customers”, said Costică Mișaca, General Manager, Taco Bell Romania.

During the 5 years, Taco Bell implemented a digitization and development strategy based on solutions and platforms designed to adapt to consumer habits. Thus, last year, Taco Bell launched the Order&Pickup service – a simple and efficient way for customers to order their favorite products from their phone or computer, from wherever they are, with the products picked up from the nearest restaurant.

Also, in April of this year, the Loyalty – Taco Bell Rewards app was launched, a loyalty system for customers based on the accumulation of points, in exchange for which they receive Taco Bell products. As a result of the launch of the app, the number of pick-up orders increased by 110% and sales by 88%.

Taco Bell entered the local market in 2017, being the third brand in the Sphera Franchise Group portfolio, alongside KFC and Pizza Hut. The launch also marked the entry of the Southern Californian brand into Central and Eastern Europe, at the time being the only Taco Bell restaurant within a radius of 1,028 kilometers.

Currently, Taco Bell owns 14 restaurants managed in a franchise system, in 9 cities in the country: 4 in Bucharest, 2 in Brașov, 2 in Constanța and one each in Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Timișoara, Ploiesti, Bacău and Iași.
